"I plan on impacting the youth and becoming more than a household name -- an inspiration." -Shawn smith

SHAWN SMITH, formerly known as Young Savage, is an emerging artist from Philadelphia. Over the past few years, he has built a solid reputation in the tri-state area. He has opened up for Power 99's Powerhouse concert, sold out the Theatre of Living Arts (TLA), B.E.T's Music Matters at S.O.B.'s in New York, A3C in Atlanta and many more well-known concerts and venues. Shawn has opened for larger artists like Rick Ross, Jeezy, Ty Dolla $ign, DMX, Juelz Santana, Ice Cube, and Wale. Amazing listeners with his clever punchlines, content and storytelling, he has gained cosigns from artists like Meek Mill, Freeway, Cassidy, Black Thought, Affion Crockett, Jay-Z's Dj and engineer Young Guru, Hip-Hop legend Melle Mel, Ice-T, platinum producer Hit Boy, and Dj Drama to name a few.

Staying very active with his internet presence, he has gained over 3 million total YouTube views, with one of them having hit 1 million+ views for a 20 minute straight freestyle on Dj Cosmic Kev's radio show at just 17 years old. Just recently, he was featured on Sway In The Morning on Sirius Radio Shade 45 and blew Sway and his co-hosts Heather B and Tracy G away, earning respect and praise from them instantly stating that he was “ahead of his time.”

On April 16th, he released his project “SINK OR SWIM: A SHAWN SMITH STORY” (click to listen) which has been acclaimed as “hope” for the future of rap. He has released a video for his single “SHOOTOUT” directed by himself and Chop Mosley. Shawn has also released a music video for his song “HEAVEN”, which is directed by Shawn Smith and Chop Mosley also, and it co-stars actor and comedian Affion Crockett.

Following the release of the S.O.S. project, the response has been nothing short of amazement. It has even gained praises from Joe Budden on his Joe Budden Podcast (episode 116) where they reviewed Smith’s song “HEAVEN” and couldn’t even finish the track after hearing how clever the wordplay was. You can view that here. They then invited Shawn to perform at their first-ever live podcast show in New York City, where Shawn took control of the crowd, having everyone in the venue, including Joe Budden and singer/actor Mack Wilds, jumping out of their seat.
